SRQ Airport’s ‘New and Improved’ Cell Phone Lot Has LED Lighting, Restrooms and More
Aug. 11—Sarasota Bradenton International Airport announced the opening of a "new and improved" cell phone lot on Friday.
The new space, which provides a spot for vehicles to wait until their traveler's flight has landed and they are ready to be picked up, is at 1180 Rental Car Road, directly across from the previous cell phone lot. The parking area can be accessed via Old Bradenton Road or the airport's main entry on University Parkway.
The lot consists of 124 paved parking spaces, 5 of them handicap-accessible, while also having restrooms and vending machines, according to a press release issued by SRQ on Friday. It also said that it is "well lit with LED lighting" in addition to being secured with fencing.
"The new cell phone lot will offer the amenities necessary to ease the process of waiting for arriving passengers at SRQ. We encourage all airport patrons to use this new lot, or park in our short-term parking lot, when picking up passengers at the airport," Rick Piccolo, president and CEO of SRQ, said in a news release.
Two 8' by 16' flight information screens are set to be installed within the next 6 months, the airport said. The screens will provide updated information on flight arrival times, but until they are installed, cell phone lot users can find flight information on the airport website or by downloading the AeroCloud app on their phone.
The new cell phone lot is about a 1-minute drive from the terminal building.
