Security officers at Logan International Airport on Sunday stopped a man from carrying an assortment of weapons, including throwing stars and daggers, onto a flight, officials said.

Transportation Security Administration officers spotted a collection of nine throwing stars in the man’s bag, alongside a pair of daggers and a small, pointed object that appeared to be an arrowhead, according to Dan Velez, a spokesperson for the TSA.

The man claimed to have mixed up his baggage, Velez said. Massachusetts State Police troopers working at the Boston airport escorted the man back to the ticket counter to store the weapons in a checked bag.

In recent months, the TSA has stopped passengers from boarding flights at Logan Airport with a gun the size of a pen and a knife hidden in a walking cane, along with other less obscure banned items.

Nationwide, the TSA said in July it had stopped passengers from carrying more than 3,000 guns onto flights this year.
