Tri-Cities Airport Installs New Works by Local Artists
The Tri-Cities Airport has announced the selected artists for the 2019 public art opportunities in the terminal.
Each artist has a separate wall in the terminal to showcase their pieces. Installations begin mid-January and the artists’ displays will be up through the year.

Tucson International Airport Officially Opens New C Gate
With a snip of scissors, the ribbon was cut and the new C Gates were opened at Tucson International Airport (TUS) on Jan. 7.

The Charleston County Aviation Authority Police Department has received accreditation by the S.C. Police Accreditation Coalition (SCPAC).
The airport police department is the only aviation law enforcement agency currently state accredited in South Carolina.

The Whatcom County Library System (WCLS) and Bellingham International Airport (BLI) have partnered to launch “Library Liftoff”— an eye-catching space that encourages travelers to download free library eBooks and eAudiobooks while at the airport.
Travelers can use the free wireless internet access anywhere in the airport to download the free Libby eBook and eAudiobook reader to their personal mobile phone or tablet, connect to their library and stock up on great reading.

SJC Celebrates Interim Gates Facility Topping Out
Mineta San Jose International (SJC) representatives celebrated Dec. 6, as the last piece of structural steel was erected as part of the airport’s new interim gates facility project.
The setting of the last piece of steel on the structure represents a milestone for the Fentress Architects and Hensel Phelps Construction Co.’s design-build team, which broke ground on the project in September.

Perot Development Co. Plans Four Logistics Centers at DFW
Perot Development Co. on Dec. 6, received approval from the DFW International Airport board of directors for ground leases on 196 acres at the east end of the airport.
The four buildings, expected to be available for lease by 2020, will provide all of the key elements tenants require for efficient office, showroom and distribution facilities.

Officials Break Ground on Pittsburgh Airport Innovation Campus
Pittsburgh officials broke ground Dec. 6, on one of Pennsylvania’s marquee development sites, which could spur hundreds of net new jobs to the region and help fuel the regional economy.
The Airport Innovation Campus is a 195-acre parcel that will feature office space, research and development laboratories and industrial manufacturing, as well as a town center with restaurants, retail, with a long-range plan of connecting to the terminal.

TAA Receives Formal Approval For Major Airfield Safety Enhancements
Tucson International Airport (TUS) has been given formal approval to proceed from the FAA and the U.S. Air Force on its airfield safety enhancement project.
The project includes demolition of a narrow and short general aviation runway to be replaced by a full-length parallel runway, construction of new taxiways and connector taxiways, installation of aircraft guidance systems and modernizing the geometry of the airfield to the latest FAA safety standards.
