Cape, Vineyard Airports Land Federal Grants

BOSTON — Three Cape and Islands airports have been awarded improvement grants from the Federal Aviation Administration, the state Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.

The airports in Barnstable, Provincetown and Martha's Vineyard were among the 10 publicly owned airports awarded Airport Improvement Program grants.

Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis received $904,000 to update its airport master plan study, and Martha's Vineyard Airport received $1 million to acquire an aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle. Provincetown Municipal Airport received $2.3 million to build a taxiway, install new perimeter fencing and conduct environmental mitigation projects.
