The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) recognized Greg Voos, the association’s Southeast regional director, who recently retired after 11 years of service on behalf of NBAA members in Alabama, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
“For more than a decade, NBAA members have relied on Greg Voos as a go-to source for effective representation on the issues in their states and regions,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen, “Greg leaves a legacy of service to our members, and his contributions will be missed. We wish him well in his retirement.”
During his tenure at NBAA, Voos was known for his understanding of the challenges and opportunities confronting business aviation in his region. An active supporter of all the regional groups in his area, he was instrumental in the formation of several of them.
In addition to the time spent in-person with countless NBAA member companies, Voos traveled to universities and high schools across the Southeastern U.S., promoting careers in business aviation with school officials and students.
Voos, a Certified Aviation Manager (CAM), came to NBAA from a business aviation background. He’d previously served as a lineman for a fixed-base operator in Lexington, KY, then spent 17 years at Delta Air Lines in Atlanta supervising crew-tracking, followed with a career at Home Depot, where he served as aviation office manager.
“Greg has always been ready to lend his support to our association and help any way he could,” said Ashley Charnley, Georgia Business Aviation Association chair and OGARAJETS LLC vice president of business integration.
“He brought groups together across the region and encouraged the exchange of ideas, especially when we were working through issues that impacted us all. We’re grateful for the time, energy and care he consistently brought to our community,” Charnley added.
“Greg has been a conduit for the Greater Washington Business Aviation Association (GWBAA) over the last 11 years, connecting other NBAA regional groups and leaders to share ideas and to advance legislative issues,” said Caleb Stitely, GWBAA president and Chantilly Air director of managed aircraft and charter.
Stitely continued, “Most recently, his ability to collaborate and connect stakeholders was seen with the successful extension of the Virginia tax exemption for parts, engines and supplies, avionics or aircraft components earlier this year. His extensive network and knowledge brought value to NBAA’s Southeast regional groups and their members.”
“Greg has had a long and distinguished aviation career, and we at NBAA have been fortunate to have had his expertise and leadership in the regional director program,” said Steve Hadley, NBAA’s regional program senior director and Southwest Central regional director, “We thank him for his dedicated efforts on behalf of business aviation.”
NBAA’s regional directors build working relationships with business aviation organizations at the state and local levels to provide support for operators of business aircraft in the public affairs, legislative and policy arenas. They also work directly with state legislators, staff for various state aeronautics agencies, airport management and other policymaking entities at the grassroots level in support of the industry.
