Pilot Injured after Plane Crashes in Field near Marion County Airport
A pilot was injured after a plane crashed into a field near the Marion County Airport on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The twin-engine Beechcraft D55 crashed into a field near the airport and I-22 in Hamilton around 3:20 p.m., according to the FAA and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The pilot, who was the only person on board, was conscious and alert when they were taken to a local hospital for treatment, said Marion County EMA Director Eric Terrell.
The plane took off from Memphis, according to ABC 33/40. It was unclear what it’s destination was.
The FAA said it was sending investigators to the scene of the crash, with the NTSB leading the investigation.
