Hexagon Debuts Upgraded PULSE Platform for Shop-Floor Measurements
Hexagon has announced that its Manufacturing Intelligence division is releasing an upgraded version of its PULSE hardware and platform.
PULSE is a system that enables real-time environmental monitoring for coordinate measuring machine (CMM) environments.
The new upgrades to the PULSE hardware and platform allow for extended sensing of CMM environments, increasing visibility into conditions like:
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Vibration
- Shock
- Probe deflection
The upgraded platform’s enhanced visibility helps users reduce reworking and false results, ensuring accurate measurements and inspection outcomes.
New upgrades to PULSE that help increase accuracy of shop-floor measurements and inspections include:
- Hexagon’s Metrology Communication Interface (MCI): This feature centralizes PULSE data with MES platforms, PLCs, dashboards and automation software for easy viewing and access.
- Improved awareness for probe deflection: This helps operators identify instances where recalibration is necessary by identifying events as general vibration or shock events and probe collisions.
- Extended CMM compatibility: Since it’s compatible with all Hexagon CMMs and-fleet environments, PULSE helps standardize environmental monitoring.
- Integration with third-party systems: The system’s modular platform and compatibility with third-party systems allows for added capabilities in the future.
These features offer benefits like:
- Enhanced CMM availability
- Better accuracy for measurement results
- Increased reliability in autonomous inspection workflows
Hexagon notes that interested parties can purchase the next-gen PULSE now, with sales having started March 31.
Installing the PULSE platform and hardware usually takes around five minutes, with no need for specialized support. For current PULSE users, there’s an upgrade available that can be installed using a software update and a plug-and-play sensor. New users can purchase the complete PULSE solution at once.
Product Manager Digital Solutions at Hexagon Luca Sala said, “As metrology continues to move closer to production, manufacturers need greater visibility into the environmental conditions that influence measurement reliability.”
Sala added, “PULSE complements the CMM by extending its sensing capabilities beyond the machine itself, helping customers maintain accuracy, reduce downtime and operate with greater confidence in real-world production environments.”
