Embraer has officially completed a demonstration campaign featuring the KC-390 Millennium’s cold-weather capabilities.

The campaign—which took place in Sweden at the Vidsel Test Range—showcased how the KC-390 Millennium can support Agile Combat Employment (ACE) and maintain operations in high-intensity Arctic conditions.

The cold-weather campaign involved the crew:

  • Starting the engines quickly
  • Conducting short takeoffs and landings

As the KC-390 aircraft can load and deploy vehicles like the SISU GTT military all-terrain vehicles quickly, while keeping space available on board, it showed itself to be ideal for high-logistical-response missions in challenging scenarios.

Key capabilities of the KC-390 Millennium include:

  • Aerial refueling
  • Agile Combat Employment
  • Rapid response

Embraer Defense & Security President and CEO Bosco da Costa Junior said, “The KC-390 Millennium demonstrated once again its versatility and its ability to successfully perform the most demanding missions under the toughest conditions, all with 100% reliability.”

He continued, “This next-generation aircraft, which is fully compatible with the Agile Combat Employment concept, represents an unbeatable combination for operations in Northern Europe and the Arctic.”
