A small plane ran off the runway at Morristown Airport, prompting the airport to temporarily close Saturday afternoon, according to officials.

The Beechcraft BE20 ran off the end of Runway 23 into a grassy area after landing at the airport around 12:10 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA and NTSB were investigating the accident.

The airport was closed because of the incident, according to Morristown Airport’s Twitter account. A spokesman for the airport said more information was not immediately available.

It was not clear if there were any injuries or how many people were aboard on the aircraft. Local authorities could not be reached to comment.
