Aerospace careers are taking flight in Tulsa. American Airlines announced a major overhaul for its maintenance base. The $550 million dollar investment will include a new widebody-capable hangar and other upgrades to the Tulsa facility.

With more than 5,500 workers, American is one of the largest employers in Tulsa, adding 600 new jobs last year. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of jobs for aircraft technicians will grow by nearly 5,000 nationwide over the next eight years and has an average salary of nearly $60,000.

Tulsa Tech can help student’s careers take flight. In just under two years, adult students can graduate from Tulsa Tech and take the test for a federal Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License. Students can also choose to specialize in either of the A&P programs and take the federal certification for just that area.

Tulsa Tech also offers a program for high school and adult students in programs like Aerospace Structures Technician, Aviation Generals and Private Pilot Ground School.
