When MROs implement WinAir's MRO package, they are often migrating from very old software, manual spreadsheets or a blackboard/whiteboard covered in sticky notes. The latest trend driving MRO systems is digitalization.

“MROs are adopting digitalization wherever and whenever they can,” according to Natasha Wundram, product specialist for WinAir (AV-BASE Systems, Inc.). “Manual processes have been identified as inefficient, and businesses are eager to reduce them through increased automation.”

In a single software solution, WinAir's MRO package provides MROs with the tools they need to effectively manage all aspects of a client's aircraft visit. They can manage aircraft maintenance programs, planning, technical records, production activities, inventory control, purchasing, invoicing, job costing, and more in an integrated system that focuses on regulatory compliance.

What are the key advantages of utilizing the MRO package?

WinAir's MRO package provides accurate and real-time information at your fingertips, increasing productivity, connecting departments, and improving transparency.

Can the MRO package be configured to meet different needs?

When we implement WinAir, we meet with our customers and consult with them to determine their specific needs/requirements in order to help them choose the best configuration for their WinAir system. Customers' needs vary; for example, an MRO may track basic flight log information for their clients, while another MRO may track very detailed flight logs for their clients, or an MRO may not track flight logs at all and rely on their clients' flight logs.

Are there any optional features?

WinAir has the capacity and scalability to meet the specific requirements of businesses, whether they are an expanding or medium to large MRO. Businesses can enhance the MRO package by adding optional features and functionalities that best meet their current needs or as those needs change. Document Management, Labor Tracking, Accounting Integration, Tool Management, and Barcode Labels are some of the optional features that appeal to MROs.

What is the most common configuration of the MRO package chosen by customers?

The most common configuration of WinAir is our All-Inclusive product option; it offers the most value for MROs as it includes all system updates and enhancements. However, if a company has specific budgetary requirements, we can tailor our software packages to meet their needs.

Is there a specific capability or feature that really wows customers?

WinAir's Digital Signatures feature allows mechanics and inspectors to approve and electronically sign off on maintenance tasks, which has proven to significantly save aviation operations in terms of time allocations and administrative costs, accelerate processes, ensure accuracy, and provide customers with the option to go paperless.

What considerations should be made before moving to the digital realm or upgrading to the MRO Package?

Moving from a legacy system, or even a paper-based one, to modern aviation management software, such as WinAir Version 7, will result in a shift in the way work is performed by everyone in the organization. The most important thing is to be prepared to make changes to organizational procedures. WinAir has clients that have been approved by Transport Canada, the FAA, and EASA to go completely paperless with digitally authenticated signatures.

What does an MRO need to have in place before purchasing the MRO Package?

WinAir Version 7 pre-purchase requirements are minimal, as the software is entirely web-based. When using our SaaS (Software as a Service) hosting options, our customers do not need any additional infrastructure; all that is required is a device that can connect to the internet. We work together with all new prospects to formulate a change management and implementation plan.

When did WinAir first introduce the MRO Package?

Our packages have always been scalable, with customers able to add modules or bundles as needed. As a result, since its inception in 1988, the MRO package has always been available.

What version of the MRO Package is available now and how has the package changed since it first came out?

The MRO package is included in the most recent WinAir Version 7. Our software has been continually updated and enhanced over the years in response to aviation industry trends, best practices, and client feedback.

Any updates or anything new coming up?

We recently released new software enhancements and updates such as Template Revisions, Scheduling Triggers, Personnel Authorizations and Qualifications, and Bin Management. As part of our Production Planning enhancement project, we are currently developing a new Rostering functionality. The objective of the Rostering functionality in WinAir Version 7 is to allow businesses to define shifts, set schedules and view when specific people will be working, make changes to shifts as needed, link assigned work to shifts for personnel based on their schedule, and access an overview of a person's workday. In addition to this, we have other software enhancements planned for the coming year that will be of interest to MROs.

We are also very excited to be returning to an in-person environment for The WinAir User Summit 2022 (Oct. 4-6 in London, Ontario, Canada). This event is an opportunity for our customers to network and share their vision for the future of WinAir.

We are constantly improving our software to assist businesses in boosting operational efficiencies, and this is achieved through the collaboration with our clients at our summits and through regular interactions with our WinAir client advocates.
