July 22, 2020

Gradient Lens Corporation has announced the launch of the much anticipated Hawkeye V3 HD Video Borescope (www.gradientlens.com/V3). With it’s new Micro HD video camera, and custom-engineered image processor, the 4- and 6-mm Hawkeye V3’s deliver simply the best image quality of any borescope on the market today under $15,000. Video footage, and still images, captured by the V3 appear crystal clear and with vibrant, lifelike colors.

Building on the popular Hawkeye V2 Video Borescope, which was launched in 2012, the new Hawkeye V3 HD incorporates significant technological advancements, resulting in 6X higher resolution than it’s predecessor. The new V3 also incorporates a 5.5-inch HD high-brightness, daylight readable, touch-screen display. Of special interest to aircraft inspectors, the V3 has Wi-Fi capability allowing wireless remote viewing of live inspections.

“We believe the V3 HD is the new worldwide standard in both image quality and superior construction and functionality,” said Dr. Douglas Kindred, President and Chief Scientist at Gradient Lens Corporation. “The V3 easily displays, captures, and transmits over Wi-Fi, crystal clear High-Definition (HD) video and still images, and does so using a sleek, ergonomic design, superior construction, and intuitive user interface.”

The combination of the HD CMOS micro camera, the HD touchscreen display, and the IMX6 image processor produces sharp, clear, vibrant images with excellent resolution, contrast, and color rendition.

“The image quality is absolutely superb," said Kindred.

The Hawkeye V3 HD Video Borescopes also feature Wi-Fi capability to view images on iphones and ipads, as well as sophisticated image processing software, center and edge weighting, and glare reduction features. The V3s have a super bright, integrated LED light, servo driven joystick operated articulation, and six-hour battery life.

Like it’s predecessor the V2, the Hawkeye V3 HD is expected to be an invaluable tool for aviation maintenance teams. Using the fully-portable, 4-way articulating Hawkeye V3 HD, aircraft can quickly be inspected and evaluated, during routine required inspections, or, to troubleshoot mechanical problems that could affect safety.

“Using a borescope can eliminate the need for costly and time consuming engine and system teardown,” Kindred said.

The 4mm diameter Hawkeye V3 is available in lengths of 1.5 and 3.0 meters, and the 6mm diameter model is available in lengths of 1.5, and 3.0 meters. Interchangeable 90-degree and close-focus optical tips are optional. The smooth servo-driven articulation range is +/- 180 degrees. The V3 can operate continuously for 6 hours without the need for recharging. The V3 contains an integrated, high-efficiency Micro LED light source. Hawkeye V3 prices start at $10,995.
