Brussels – The following statement was released by Pete Bunce, President and CEO of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) on the adoption of airworthiness implementation procedures for the U.S. – Switzerland Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA):

“GAMA applauds these two leading aviation authorities, FAA and FOCA, on the signing into force of the implementing procedures for airworthiness.  This new process will allow manufacturers to export their products with less delay, assisting in creating highly skilled jobs and exciting new business opportunities.  It translates into reduced costs and time for all involved, while simultaneously ensuring new safety-enhancing technologies are made more easily available to the aviation community.

“At a time of limited government resources, it is imperative authorities are equipped to focus their efforts on those areas which deliver real safety benefits, rather than unnecessarily duplicating work.  The expansion of this agreement represents a milestone in advancing the effectiveness of this important safety agreement.  The new procedures will greatly enhance the safety partnership between FAA and FOCA, while significantly improving the efficiency of oversight of aviation products flowing in both directions”, continued Bunce.
