Earlier this year, Crane Worldwide, a full-service Air, Ocean, Trucking, Customs Brokerage & Logistics Company that is headquartered in Houston partnered with the Virgin Atlantic Airways Logistics centre in London to move shipments to various Virgin Atlantic Airways outstations based at international airports. The product was engineering steps that allow Virgin Atlantic engineers to access maintenance areas on their aircraft. The engineering steps needed to be delivered to airside facilities at each location.

Virgin Atlantic was looking for a partner who was responsive to their requirements and could attend to their needs in a timely and organised fashion. Each container was moved door to door from manufacturer to Virgin Atlantic’s locations in the USA and South Africa.

Crane Worldwide provided a complete solution including customs clearance at destination ensuring that communication was seamless throughout the process from booking the containers through to the issue of EUR1 forms.

Stephen Kerr, Stores Operations Manager at Virgin Atlantic Airways comments:

My challenge was to transport bespoke Maintenance Access Steps designed by Virgin Atlantic to our Engineering teams worldwide. I found in Crane Worldwide, a company whereby nothing was too much trouble. We had spoken to a number of logistics providers and determined that Crane Worldwide was the most competitive and responsive. Crane Worldwide contacted the manufacturers and planned each fitment of the containers. They ran the whole process as instructed without delay and to budget, saving us both time and money.

Andy Currey, Tooling and Ground Equipment Manager at Virgin Atlantic Airways comments:

I was very impressed by the effort and knowledge that the Crane Worldwide team instantly offered and subsequently showed during the whole shipping process. The equipment arrived at the numerous locations around the world as described and within the stated delivery dates. “Impressive” would be the words used to describe the level of customer service received.

Gerard Ryan, Regional Vice President Europe Middle East and Africa also comments: ‘We are delighted to be working with such a prestigious client as Virgin Atlantic Airways and are pleased that they recognise the importance of the personal touch in the services that we offer. At Crane Worldwide, we are logistics professionals who take great pride in offering a personalised service to our customers in order to help them challenge and improve the efficiency of their own supply chains.’
