LINCOLN, NEB. — In an initiative to drive down the cost of operating older TFE731-2 and -3 engines, which are found on Falcon 10, Learjet 31, Learjet 35, Westwind, Hawker, Falcon 50, Citation 650 and Learjet 55 aircraft, Duncan Aviation is now authorized to sell “reclaimed” engine parts that have been refurbished and inspected by Duncan Aviation.

As an authorized OEM repair facility, Duncan Aviation has been buying, selling and exchanging engines and APUs for more than 20 years and is the only facility authorized by Honeywell to offer reclaimed 731 engine parts for sale. Duncan Aviation’s inventory of serviceable and reconditioned engine and APU parts is valued in excess of $10 million. All engine parts available through Duncan Aviation are FAA 8130 tagged and are considered dual release parts, accepted by both the FAA and EASA.

Duncan Aviation and Honeywell recently signed an agreement authorizing Duncan Aviation to sell and refurbish these parts.

“We have been evaluating aging fleet issues for a number of years,” says Michael Donlan, Business Leader for BGA Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul. “We invited several potential partners to consult with us while we create a strategy for operators of these older aircraft that do not currently take advantage of the Honeywell Maintenance Service Plan. It is clear that Duncan Aviation has a solid understanding of the challenges these operators face and is the right partner to help us get this program underway.”

John Slieter, Duncan Aviation’s Vice President of Sales, says that “offering reclaimed engine parts instead of new is a cost-effective way to make the operation of the older aircraft with these engines more affordable.”

While many vendors and brokers sell engine parts, the Honeywell/Duncan Aviation partnership is the first of its kind to ensure absolute integrity of part pedigree while lowering the acquisition costs of those parts.

Duncan Aviation’s serviceable engine parts inventory is available to individual operators, unaffiliated engine part brokers and maintenance facilities. Leo Sawatzki, Duncan Aviation Engine Parts Sales Manager, says Duncan Aviation’s inventory has been amassed through the purchase of more than 85 TFE731 engines and their subsequent reduction to spare parts. Duncan Aviation continues to add more engines to this reclamation, recycling process, he says.
