Brussels Airlines, the leading Belgian airline, and Lufthansa Technik Malta have signed a base maintenance contract for the Airbus A330 fleet of the carrier. Lufthansa Technik Malta will provide C-Checks for the five A330s of Brussels Airlines starting from now on. Additionally Lufthansa Technik Malta has been selected to do a full cabin retrofit of the aircraft starting in February 2012.

"This is the first time we will work together with Lufthansa Technik for the base maintenance of our long haul fleet. We are happy to contract this work to Lufthansa Technik Malta. They have a huge expertise and a high quality standard in both areas, C-checks and cabin refurbishment. This gives us the guarantee to achieve the result which we expect in this very important project for our airline", said Koen Vanaenroyde, VP Maintenance & Engineering of Brussels Airlines.

Stephan Drewes, CEO of Lufthansa Technik Malta, added: "To win a leading carrier like Brussels Airlines for our wide-body maintenance services is a great success for us. It is a proof for the large expertise we have been able to build up in the past three years since we opened the first wide-body line. We have been very successful with the refurbishment program 'New Europe Cabin' of Lufthansa in the past months and I am absolutely sure that we will deliver the same quality to Brussels Airlines."

The cabin refurbishment program for Brussels Airlines includes the installation of a completely new cabin with a state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system in all classes.

The two companies are currently in negotiations about further maintenance services for Airbus A319/A320.

Brussels Airlines operates its fleet of Airbus A330-300 aircraft on its Africa network. The airline serves 19 African destinations with its A330-300 fleet.
