Lufthansa Technik recently signed a Total Technical Support TTS® contract (including Total Material Operations TMO) with Nok Air and will consequently provide all-round support for the Thai airline's new Boeing 737 NG fleet from November onwards. Technical fleet management on site and Maintenance Management Services (MMS) are just as much part of the extensive service spectrum as engine overhauls and the provision of components, consumables and expendables. In addition, the agreement comprises landing gear and APU overhauls as well as repairs on large composite structures such as radomes and thrust reversers.

"We appreciate a lot that Nok Air chose Total Technical Support which is Lufthansa Technik's most comprehensive service package. With this full service package we will contribute significantly to Nok Air's smooth operations," says Robin Johansson, Director Marketing & Sales Southeast Asia & Australia at Lufthansa Technik.

With Nok Air's fleet rollover due to commence at the beginning of November, preparations for the start of operations are already in full swing. The local infrastructure at the airline's hub at Bangkok Don Mueang Airport (DMK) is currently being built up. Lufthansa Technik Logistik (LTL) is providing support for the construction of the material warehouse at DMK. Furthermore, a fleet management team and the maintenance station are being set up to ensure that the fleet gets off to a good start.

To provide optimal support for the 737NG aircraft over the next eight years, Lufthansa Technik will not only make use of its workshops in Germany, but also relies on the extensive resources of the entire Lufthansa Technik Group. The worldwide base maintenance operations will be involved as well as Lufthansa Technik Maintenance International and Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services UK which will be responsible for the daily maintenance business and landing gear repairs respectively. LTL will take care of supplying consumables and expendables. Its product c.all comprises planning and procurement of consumables and expendables as well as the organization of routine and ad hoc supplies.
