Afton, WY -- The FAA recently created a special award to honor Albert Humbert for "Outstanding Achievement", which recognized "Exceptional Performance as a Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative" (DMIR). Humbert, who works for Aviat Aircraft was called upon to complete a Request for Conformity by the Seattle Manufacturing Inspection District Office (MIDO) of the FAA. At issue was a flap and aileron modification to Aviat's Husky. His submission was so thorough and accurate, that the MIDO manager began showing the documents around the office and then moved to copy and distribute them as representative of a standard to be emulated by other DMIRs.

It was the first award of its kind and the only one that has been presented to a DMIR by the FAA.

The report required checking all dimensions and materials for conformity to the blueprints and processing unsatisfactory conditions with staff engineers to develop satisfactory conditions. It also includes and engineering report on how the flaps and ailerons would be submitted to static tests and test results.

"We simply took the time and exercised the care to make sure the report was comprehensive and in line with the FAA's guidelines for responding to a Request for Conformity," said Humbert. "It's very satisfying to receive that kind of recognition, but it's also very much in keeping with the way things are done around here at Aviat."

Aviat Aircraft manufacturers the Husky, Pup, Pitts Special and kits for the Eagle biplane. For more information on Aviat products visit www.AviatAircraft.com.
