Lycoming Engines has announced the formation of its new advanced technology center (ATC) located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Lycoming, a leader in general aviation piston engines, created the center as a separate unit of its specialized research and development operations. It will leverage the company's capabilities in program management and other technologies to increase efficiencies in future aviation power plants.

"We are thrilled to highlight and enhance our research and development capabilities through the formation of our advanced technology center," stated Dennis Racine, Lycoming director of marketing and customer leadership. "This unit will be our test-bed to leverage our internal capabilities in program management, metallurgy and other power plant technology for all aviation applications," Racine added.

Lycoming ATC began taking orders on April 1, and is expected to announce further developments to the center later this year.
