CINCINNATI (AP) -- Delta Air Lines Inc. subsidiary Comair said Thursday it will eliminate up to 1,000 jobs, or about 14 percent of the regional carrier's work force.

The final number of job cuts could be as low as 600 if some employees leave voluntarily, Comair spokesman Nick Miller said.

About 350 of the jobs will be cut at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in Hebron, Ky., where the carrier employs about 5,000 of its 7,000 workers.

The cuts follow Atlanta-based Delta's Chpater 11 bankrupcty filing last month. Delta said at the time it would trim service by about 25 percent at the Cincinnati airport, its second-largest hub.
