The bodies of two men whose light aircraft went missing off England's northwest coast have been recovered from the plane's wreckage, police said on Sunday.

The plane's fuselage was discovered on the beach of the seaside resort of Blackpool.

The single-engine aircraft, thought to have been travelling from Exeter to Blackpool, disappeared from air traffic radar screens at about 5 p.m. on Saturday.

A rescue operation was immediately launched involving several lifeboats and helicopters but had to be called off late on Saturday due to poor visibility.
