Pratt & Whitney Successfully Completes First CFM56-3 Engine Endurance Test
MRO US, ATLANTA, April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company, successfully completed the first engine endurance test with new Pratt & Whitney Global Material Solutions-engineered and manufactured CFM56-3 engine gas path parts. To date, the program has logged more than 300 hours and nearly 1,600 cycles on two Pratt & Whitney owned CFM56-3 engines.
In addition to new Global Material Solutions (GMS) CFM56-3 engine parts, the engine build included new CFMI parts and CFMI-approved repaired parts in both the high pressure turbine and the low pressure turbine modules. GMS' validated CFM56-3 engine parts are on display at Aviation Week's MRO U.S. conference in Atlanta.

P&W is testing all parts in its two validation CFM56-3 engines to ensure they meet the same design and testing standards required in an OEM certification program.
