Lynx Aviation Signs Engine MRO Contract with Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey
Lynx Aviation, a Denver-based subsidiary of Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc. and one of only three Q400 operators in the United States, and Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey (LTAA), one of the leading providers for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of turboprop and small jet engines, signed a 10-year support contract for PW150 Engine Maintenance Services. The agreement potentially covers 20 Q400 aircraft.
"As a new partner for Frontier, we will be flying to destinations previously unserved by Frontier or any low cost carrier," said Tom Nunn, President of Lynx Aviation. "We know that a critical key to our success will be establishing a relationship with our passengers built on consistency and dependability. With Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey's reputation and experience, we are confident that our operation will be well-supported."
"This new contract is an important milestone to expand our engine MRO business in the world's largest engine MRO market. Lynx Aviation will fully benefit from our continuous effort to deliver the most competitive support packages and take advantage of our more then 17 years experience in regional aircraft operation and engine maintenance," said Norbert Frank, Vice President Sales and Marketing of Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey.
In December 2005 Pratt & Whitney awarded Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey the Designated Overhaul Facility (DOF) status for PW150A & PW150B engines. LTAA is the only independent MRO shop, beside the OEM, with this authorization. As such, LTAA is working as an extended workbench for Pratt & Whitney Canada and has already provided services under this program for several customers worldwide.
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik AG, Hamburg, Germany, the range of services offered by Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey extends from Total Engine Support TES(R) to custom repair and overhaul of engines, modules and individual parts; to engineering; to warranty servicing and repairs; to logistical and consulting services. The portfolio includes the CF34 series, PW120 series, PW150 series and PW901 APU. Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey is a designated warranty shop for General Electric and Pratt & Whitney engine types.
In addition, Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey offers its Airline Support Team AST(R) service directly out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, whereby small, highly qualified service teams are dispatched within hours to anywhere in the United States and Canada to perform on-site engine repairs. In case of an AOG (aircraft on ground) they provide immediate borescope inspections to diagnose the problem and repair the damage on the spot.
