MILWAUKEE , Sept. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Milwaukee-based Skyway Airlines, Inc., which operates as Midwest Connect, has been awarded the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) top honor in its Aviation Maintenance Technician awards program. The program recognizes training of maintenance technicians. The program's top honor -- the Certificate of Excellence DiamondAward -- is the highest within five FAA categories.
To receive the award, air carriers must have 50% of their eligible maintenance technicians participate in a training program and receive an FAA Certificate of Training. For the 10th year in a row, Skyway Airlines recorded perfect 100% participation of its maintenance team. For an aviation maintenance technician to receive the Diamond Certificate of Training, the technician must finish 100 hours of training, which includes the satisfactorycompletion of a 3-credit college-level course in mathematics, English, science, management or similar subjects. By comparison, the award program's next highest category -- Ruby -- requires 60 hours of training and no college-level course work. The training requirements for all individual awards include two hours of FAA policies and procedures.

Skyway technicians received their individual awards and pins at a special ceremony at the Skyway Airlines hangar attended by local- and regional-level FAA representatives.
