Jet, Kingfisher in Talks With BIAL For Repair Shops

Shops to be set up at the planned International Airport near Bangalore, India

Jet Airways (India) Ltd and Kingfisher Airlines Ltd are negotiating with Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) to set up a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) unit.

The proposed unit will be set up at the new International Airport coming up near Bangalore, which is likely to become operational by Mar 2008. The unit will also service other airlines. The MRO market in India is expected to grow to $1.1 billion by 2010. Kingfisher Airlines has also tied up with Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (Gamco), to start an MRO unit in India.

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) is building a new airport at Hyderabad, which will have an MRO unit of Lufthansa Technic AG, Germany.
