Comair Closing Orlando Maintenance Base
The Comair maintenance base at Orlando International Airport will close Sept. 7, claiming 81 jobs.
The Erlanger-based subsidiary of Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) attributed the future layoffs to “unprecedented financial challenges due to difficult economic times,” according to a June 16 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notice the company filed with the state.
Aircraft mechanics, engineers, technicians, supervisors, and managers lost their jobs, but some employees may be able to exercise "bumping rights" within the Comair system to secure employment, Comair said in its notice.
