Following through on plans announced in March, Pratt & Whitney is cutting 200 salaried jobs as part of its restructuring.
The East Hartford-based company says the job cuts represent less than one percent of its work force of 37,000. The cuts are because of declines in engine orders and maintenance and repair in the airline industry.
The job cuts took effect Wednesday and include about 170 Connecticut workers. They're part of a restructuring plan announced by parent United Technologies Corp. in March.
UTC says it plans to cut 11,600 jobs, or five percent of its global work force.
