ADF Applauded for F-111 Admission
The Federal Member for Brisbane has commended the Australian Defence Force for admitting they let down Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) workers who were exposed to toxic chemicals during maintenance of the F1-11 fighter jets.
A report tabled in Parliament last week found up to 2,000 personnel who worked on the jets' fuel tanks from the 1970s to the 1990s could be included in the revised ex-gratia compensation scheme.
A compensation scheme was established four years ago for personnel who worked on the jets' fuel tanks, but the parliamentary committee inquiry found the scheme was too limited and that it excluded hundreds of personnel who had legitimate claims.
