YAKIMA, WA -- Authorities say a father and his young son were killed and his 5-year-old daughter was critically injured in a single-engine plane crash in central Washington state.

The Yakima County Coroner's Office says 37-year-old Justin Reed of Yakima and his 13-year-old son Parrin were killed in the Sunday afternoon crash.

Reed's daughter, Julie, suffered head injuries and multiple fractures, and was airlifted to a Seattle's Harborview Medical Center after first being taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

The single-engine Cessna was rented and went down about near the east end of Rimrock Lake, about 40 miles west of Yakima.

Allen Kenitzer, regional spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, says he isn't sure of the plane's destination or point of departure. The crash is being investigated.
