CHICAGO --

UAL Corp. on Thursday tapped an insider to become president of its United Airlines operating subsidiary.

John Tague will remain an executive vice president at the parent company while serving as president of Chicago-based United, the company said.

Tague will be responsible for sales, marketing, customer service and other operations at United, the nation's third-largest airline, and the United Express regional affiliate.

UAL also promoted Chief Financial Officer Kathryn Mikells to executive vice president. She had been a senior vice president.
