Chromalloy Selected by U.S. Air Force for F108 Turbine Engine Nozzle Repairs

The contract awarded by the Air Force at Tinker Air Force Base is valued $3.3 million, for work that will continue for approximately six months.

ORANGEBURG, N.Y., September 9, 2009 – Chromalloy announced today that it has been selected by the U.S. Air Force to provide High Pressure Turbine (HPT) nozzle repairs to support the Air Force’s overhaul of F108 gas turbine engines that powers the KC135R tanker aircraft.

The contract awarded by the Air Force at Tinker Air Force Base is valued $3.3 million, for work that will continue for approximately six months. The contract is the third to be awarded to Chromalloy for the nozzle repairs on the F108 engine.

The KC135R fleet includes more than 400 aircraft deployed by the Air Force at Tinker Air Force Base. The aircraft provides refueling for military aircraft in flight.

In addition to F108 turbine repairs and components, Chromalloy also provides replacement blades, vanes and nozzles for the CFM56-2 aircraft engine, the commercial variant of the F108 military engine. With facilities and service centers around the globe, Chromalloy supplies advanced repairs and services for gas turbines used in aviation and land-based applications, repairs, refurbishes and manufactures engine components.

The company also designs and manufactures FAA-approved replacement parts for aircraft engines that are certified to meet or exceed the performance, reliability and durability specifications of original equipment manufacturer parts.

In support of land-based applications, Chromalloy employs identical engineering disciplines used to produce its FAA-certified parts.
