Georgetown, Del. (December 8, 2009) – PATS Aircraft Systems, a division of DeCrane Aerospace, is pleased to announce that the FAA has granted a Global Alternate Method of Compliance (AMOC) to Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2008-22-01 for Bombardier Aircraft Model CL 600-2B19 installed with PATS Auxiliary Fuel System STC ST00365NY-D, Configuration 2. The FAA has approved PATS’ Service Bulletin ST00365NY-D-28-SB-018 as the Global AMOC for the SFAR88 AD.
The PATS-designed and FAA-approved SFAR88 AMOC is based upon the recently approved Supplemental Type Certificate for the CRJ-200 auxiliary fuel system. This AMOC allows the operator to upgrade the PATS’ Configuration 2 system to a Configuration 5 using the PATS’ AMOC Service Bulletin. The approved AMOC is fully compliant with all Federal Aviation Regulations, including SFAR 88. PATS is now producing the SFAR88 AMOC SB Kits for delivery to customers beginning in December 2009 for installation at the customer’s next scheduled maintenance event.
In 1995 PATS, in partnership with Bombardier, developed an auxiliary fuel system and obtained certification of STC ST00365NY-D for configurations 1 and 2 with application on factory-produced Challenger SE platforms. In 2006, PATS amended the STC to configuration 5 for SFAR 88 and compliance with FAR Part 25.981 Amendment 102. This updated configuration utilized the Bombardier factory-installed structural provisions and these configuration-5 auxiliary fuel systems are installed by Bombardier during production of the Challenger 850.
In June 2009, the FAA approved configuration 6 of the STC for the installation of the auxiliary fuel system in the Bombardier CL-600-2B19 (CRJ-200) which is SFAR 88 / FAR 25.981 Amendment 102 compliant and also includes approval of a retrofitted structural package which allows the installation of the system into aircraft not containing the Bombardier factory-installed structural provisions.
The PATS Aircraft Systems CRJ-200 Auxiliary Fuel System is a two-tank system, installed within the fuselage pressure vessel forward of the aft cargo compartment of the CRJ-200 aircraft. The system weighs approximately 724 lbs, is equipped to hold 593 gallons / 3,973lbs (18,031 kg) of fuel and allows for an aircraft range of up to 3,000 nautical miles.
PATS Aircraft Systems’ facility in Georgetown, Del. is a fully capable maintenance facility and a FAA/EASA-approved Part 145 Repair Station (P7UR116O/EASA 145.5124). PATS Aircraft Systems has multiple hangar slots available throughout 2010 to accommodate Boeing 727 and 737, Bombardier CL-600-2B19 and Embraer ERJ-190-100ECJ aircraft for maintenance, modifications and auxiliary fuel tank installations.
