Montreal's Aveos Lands New Contracts

It has signed new engine service pacts with Air China, with Air Moldova in Europe, and Merpati Airlines and Mandala Airlines in Indonesia.

Aveos, the Montreal-based international aircraft maintenance and overhaul group, said Wednesday it has signed new engine service pacts with Air China, with Air Moldova in Europe, and Merpati Airlines and Mandala Airlines in Indonesia.

The service pacts lnclude maintenance, repair and overhaul for several series of the top-selling CFM56 engines that power Airbus and Boeing narrowbody airliners.

The contracts extend over two years in the case of Air China and one to five years for Air Moldova, Merpati Airlines and Mandala Airlines.

China's flagship carrier Air China operates a mixed fleet of 247 Airbus and Boeing aircraft and flies passengers and cargo to 250 destinations worldwide.

Air Moldova is the Republic of Moldova's flag carrier flying Airbus A320s. Merpati Airlines, based in Jakarta, operates 32 aircraft, including 12 Boeing 737s, and Mandala Airlines, also based in Jakarta, has a fleet of A320s.

Aveos has a roster of more than 100 airline clients, including Air Canada, and operates maintenance bases in Canada and El Salvador. Its strategy has become more international and the Chinese contract opens the door to the world's fastest-growing civil aviation market.
