RAM Defense Industries, LLC Advances Development of Powerful, Lightweight, Fuel Efficient Two-Stroke Piston Ported Engines for Use in UAV’s

The ROSS-CS 433 two stroke piston ported engine achieves 1.4 to 1 horsepower to weight ratio.

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD, May 18, 2010 – Recognizing the growing need for powerful, lightweight engines to power UAV’s (Un-manned Aerial Vehicles), RAM Defense Industries, LLC embarked on a mission in October 2008 to develop a new breed of two stroke engines. We are pleased to announce that we have achieved that goal with the development and production of the ROSS-CS 433cc engine. The ROSS-CS 433 is a naturally aspirated, two-stroke, two cylinder, piston ported engine, with a patent pending fuel delivery system and variable venturi sound suppression system. In its present configuration the engine develops 48.9 HP at 6,900 RPM’s and weighs a mere 35 ponds, while consuming 3.5 gallons of aviation gasoline per hour. During the prop-testing phase of this engine, the ROSS-CS 433 achieved 8,000 sustained RPM’s spinning a Sensenich 29-18 prop.

Richard Ross, the managing partner of RAM Defense, states: “Our development of this engine continues. We have the technology to reduce the weight of the ROSS-CS 433 to 25 pounds and increase its horse power to at least 65 HP, giving it a horsepower to weight ratio of 2.6 to 1.” Ross goes on to add that “The beauty of our technology is that it scalable so that if a 130 horsepower engine is required, RAM Defense will be able to produce an engine meeting this requirement with the same horsepower to weight ratio.” The ROSS-CS 433 currently runs on aviation gasoline, but Ross states that RAM Defense is close to a breakthrough on a heavy fuel propulsion configuration for their engine.

RAM Defense Industries, LLC, located in Capitol Heights, MD was formed in October, 2008 and was formally chartered in the State of Maryland in February 2009. Its mission is to develop and manufacture light weight, powerful, fuel efficient engines for the UAV and related industries.
