Chicago, IL – November, 2010 – At the recent NBAA Meeting and Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, Jet Support Services, Inc. (JSSI), the largest, independent provider of hourly cost maintenance programs for the business aviation industry, announced that Eric Russell, Chief Pilot for Rainbow Sandals flight department in California, is the winner of the Fly a P-51 sweepstakes. The sweepstakes was launched in August and concluded at the Convention on October 20th. The grand prize winner was selected via a random drawing and was announced by famed astronaut, Captain Eugene (Gene) Cernan during a reception at the JSSI exhibit booth last week.

Mr. Russell won the grand prize of an orientation flight in a dual-controlled P-51 Mustang through the Stallion 51 Corporation in Kissimmee, Florida. The prize also includes roundtrip airfare to Florida and accommodations for two.

Russell, a Piaggio Avanti pilot and former volunteer at the Reno Air Races, has always wanted to fly a P-51 and shares that dream with his father, who he plans to take with him on the trip to Kissimmee. “I am thrilled to have won this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly a P-51 and cannot thank JSSI enough,” commented Eric Russell, sweepstakes winner. “It’s too bad that I couldn’t attend NBAA and accept the prize from Captain Cernan personally but truly appreciate JSSI’s generosity,” added Russell.

Rainbow Sandals operates a Piaggio Avanti P-180 and has the PT6A-66 engines enrolled on the JSSI Premium Engine Maintenance Program.
