“This is a terrific package that is aggressively priced to provide a significant value opportunity for Cirrus owners who are looking to enhance the performance, utility, and overall safety of their aircraft,” said Fetherston.
About the DFC90
Avidyne’s DFC90 is an attitude-based digital autopilot system that provides several major feature and performance improvements over previous-generation systems including Avidyne’s innovative “Flight Envelope Protection” and a “Straight & Level” button. The DFC90 provides greatly-improved flight stability and tracking capability due to the use of Entegra system’s Air Data & Attitude Heading Reference System (ADAHRS). This is particularly evident and important when intercepting and tracking an ILS to minimums in windy conditions. Flight Envelope Protection is designed to guard against autopilot-induced stalls and over-speed situations, and theDFC90’s “Straight & Level” button overrides all autopilot modes and levels the aircraft in both pitch and roll from a wide range of capture attitudes for an added measure of safety.
About WAAS
WAAS is the new Wide-Area Augmentation System, which enables aircraft to rely on signals from Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites and ground stations for that provide GPS signal corrections, providing much greater navigation accuracy during all phases of flight, including precision approaches to any airport within its coverage area.
