Duncan Aviation Develops “Phased Interior Maintenance” Program
LINCOLN, NEB. — Duncan Aviation is pleased to announce that it recently developed a “Phased Interior Maintenance” program to help operators better plan for interior projects while increasing the longevity of a functional, aesthetically pleasing interior for their passengers.
The plan works because an interior refurbishment can be effectively “phased” over several years by matching various levels of interior refurbishment with annual and routine aircraft maintenance events.
“Phasing an interior allows an operator to reduce overall downtime and costs,” explained Nate Darlington, an Interior Modifications Sales Rep at Duncan Aviation’s Battle Creek, Mich., facility. “It also adds value by amortizing refurbishment costs over the aircraft life cycle and keeps the aircraft in pristine condition.”
The peace of mind with such a program is huge, Darlington said. “A well-maintained interior looks clean and feels more comfortable, and passengers feel more confident with how the aircraft has been handled and cared for. This kind of maintenance goes beyond clean carpets and seats. In addition, functional items in the interior need ongoing service to keep them operating properly and to prevent damage that would cost more in the long run.”
Interior maintenance plans target all aspects of an interior and are unique to each operator. Therefore an effective maintenance plan is based on a thorough understanding of the customer and their aircraft. To create them, Duncan Aviation’s team of interior refurbishment professionals will work with a Director of Maintenance to evaluate and estimate the lifespan of an aircraft’s interior. The team will then develop a specific Phased Interior Maintenance schedule for that aircraft that pairs interior refurbishment events with annual aircraft inspections of similar downtimes and that require the removal and reinstallation of the same interior components. The plan is developed without cost or obligation to bring any of the work to a Duncan Aviation facility.
