Turkish Technic and A J Walter Aviation Sign a 5-year Cooperation Agreement
Miami, April 15th 2011: At the industry event MRO Americas, yesterday morning, Turkish Technic announced that it had selected world leading spares support specialist A J Walter Aviation to provide full PBH and leased stock services to the growing THY B777-300ER aircraft fleet. The contract is initially for a total of 12 aircraft in-service and on order from Boeing, and AJW has teamed with its partner BA Engineering to underpin the AJW inventory support solution for this fleet.
Turkish Technic is the provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul operations from its facilities at Istanbul Ataturk International Airport. The MRO also provides extensive component repair services from its on-site state-of-the-art workshops. In order to rapidly grow this business activity, Turkish Technic is investing up to $500M in a new facility based at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport on the Asian side of Istanbul. As part of this plan, AJW and Turkish Technic will combine their resources to provide integrated aircraft support services to the wider region.
“Over the last decade, AJW has worked closely and successfully with many airlines in Turkey,” states AJW President, Christopher Whiteside. “We have seen the huge growth in this market in recent years and we are extremely pleased to be able to partner with Turkish Technic in this co-operation and what we hope will be many more business agreements to satisfy the needs of operators across the region.”
Fuat Oktay, Executive Vice President, Turkish Technic comments, “This is a win-win agreement for both companies and also for the operators that we serve. We are confident that this co-operation can offer world class support solutions to operators who are seeking competitive advantage in this growing but challenging market place.”
