SCOTTSDALE, AZ June 21, 2011 – Arizona students seeking aviation careers only have ten more days to apply for the 2011 Angel MedFlight Scholarship for Excellence in Aviation. Angel MedFlight Worldwide Air Ambulance will award the scholarship in August and the selected student will receive $3,000 toward tuition for a relevant program at an Arizona college or university. All entries must be postmarked by June 30, 2011, to be considered for the 2011 award.
In 2010, Angel MedFlight established the scholarship in conjunction with the Arizona Business Aviation Association (AZBAA) to promote leadership and resourcefulness in Arizona aviation students. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Prescott, Ariz.) student Andrew Cochran received the 2010 scholarship.
Students enrolled at two- and four-year Arizona colleges or universities who are pursuing careers in fields such as aviation technology, avionics, air traffic management, aviation management, aviation maintenance, aircraft construction or other aeronautical disciplines are eligible for the scholarship.
Applicants must prepare a three-minute video addressing: the importance of an aviation career to them; a situation in which they overcame adversity; and improvements they would like to see in Arizona’s aviation industry. Candidates should submit the video along with a completed and signed application, résumé and two letters of recommendation.
The college scholarship will be awarded to a U.S. citizen without regard to sex, race, religion or national origin. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to recipient’s college or university. The student must be actively seeking a degree in the aviation field. To apply, please visit the website.
