EDEN PRAIRIE, MINNESOTA, JULY 24, 2011 – Tanis Aircraft Products announced today Michael Wiskus’ newest Pitts show plane will be on display at AirVenture Oshkosh 2011 in the Tanis Aircraft Products booth number 286, next to hangar B. Michael Wiskus is the 2002 U.S. National Aerobatic Champion and a member of the globetrotting 2004 United States Aerobatic Team. Wiskus currently performs at air shows across the U.S. in a 300+ horsepower Aviat Pitts Special aerobatic bi-plane. Wiskus and Tanis have partnered to promote Michael Wiskus Air Shows and the Tanis Aircraft Preheat System.

Michael Wiskus will be at the Tanis booth, number 286, on Wednesday, July 27th from 11:00AM to 12:00PM and from 2:00PM to 3:00PM. All AirVenture attendees are invited to drop by for a photo opportunity and autograph session with Wiskus.

Wiskus’ latest show plane is a Lycoming-powered AEIO-540 Aviat Pitts S-2C complete with a Tanis preheat system. Wiskus relies on the Tanis preheat system to ensure readiness and reliability of his aircraft. Air show performers must endure demanding schedules for both practice and performance. A Tanis preheat system gives Wiskus quicker starts and shorter warm-up times, especially during cold weather operations. Delivering heat to all critical engine components, the Tanis system saves on maintenance costs and reduces the likelihood of costly engine damage and repair.

Bob Krueger, president of Tanis, commented on the partnership, “Tanis is very fortunate to partner with Michael Wiskus Air Shows. The excitement for us only begins with his thrilling air show in his Pitts Special. Tanis has equipped all of Wiskus’ aircraft with a Tanis preheat system. This enables him to keep his aircraft ready for flying when needed and in all climates.” Krueger added, “Michael Wiskus represents an exciting segment of aviation. His enthusiasm for flying is unique, and Tanis is proud to be an enabling part of that.”

Show goers can expect to see the Tanis logo on Michael Wiskus’ two Pitts show planes. The aircraft that will be on display with Tanis at AirVenture is a two-place Pitts used by Wiskus for instruction and flying demonstrations. A large Tanis logo will also be applied to the wings of Wiskus’ aforementioned, single-place, Pitts S-2C that is used primarily for his air show performances. Both Tanis and Wiskus are based in Minnesota. Their partnership highlights the longevity and strength of aviation in a state that experiences extreme cold during the winter season.
