According to a CNN article titled, "Country's busiest airport steps up worker security," Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has upped its screening of employees in the wake of a gun-smuggling operation. According to the article, the country's busiest airport has begun screening employee bags before allowing workers into secure areas and has shut down access doors to the airfield. Until recently, the article reports the airport had approximately 70 access points for "back of airport" employees, which include baggage handlers and ramp workers. These workers were not subject to bag and body check screening before entering secure areas. Workers only had to swipe their badges to gain access to these secure area.
