Virgin America offers in-flight voter registration on all routes
Coffee, tea or independent?
Virgin America launched its new service from San Francisco International Airport to Washington's Reagan National with a patriotic spin on Tuesday:
While in the air, passengers can register to vote in the November presidential election.
A partnership between the Burlingame-based airline and the Rock the Vote organization allows travelers on any of Virgin America's flights to register from their seats using the in-flight entertainment system.
Mile-high voter registration is a first for Rock the Vote, spokeswoman Chrissy Faessen said.
The once-a-day nonstop to Reagan National is in addition to Virgin America's four daily nonstops from San Francisco to Washington's other major airport, Dulles. Reagan is just a few miles from downtown D.C.; Dulles is about 25 miles west.
The new flight departs San Francisco at 8 a.m. daily and arrives at Reagan National (DCA) at 4:05 p.m. The westbound flight leaves at 5 p.m., landing at SFO at 7:40 p.m.
