Boeing receives order for 23 737 Max planes from Virgin Australia

Virgin Australia Holdings Ltd., the country's second-biggest carrier, announced that it has submitted an order for 23 Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes, reported Reuters. The airline added that the deal is valued at USD2.19 billion at list prices; however, the company may pay less as carriers regularly negotiate discounts to official list prices. On the other hand, the carrier said that it has delayed the delivery of several Boeing 737NG aircraft to afar 2016, in order to give it flexibility to develop the right combination of narrow-body and wide-body planes, whereas scheduled deliveries of 31 Boeing 737-800 planes will stay on track for 2013-2016. It is worth noting that the carrier's new Boeing 737 MAX planes will start flying between 2019 and 2021.
