Singapore: The kinetic art sculpture, which is the world's largest moving art sculpture, has been put on display at Changi airport.

The art installation, named 'Kinetic Rain', looks like the cluster of more than 1,000 raindrops, it also reflects air turbulence.

Kinetic Rain, installed as part of Terminal 1's recent refurbishment in the Departure Check-in Hall, is made up of 1,200-odd bronze droplets.

The motors control the movement of each droplet, allowing the droplets to make up multiple different aviation-related shapes, such as shapes of planes, balloons and kites.

The motors also contain a high precision rotary encoder which keeps track of the exact position of each droplet.

Meanwhile, it took around 20 months for the artists, programmers and technologists to work as team to create the masterpiece.

Changi Yeo Kia Thye, senior vice president for airport operations of Changi Airport Group, said, "Kinetic Rain symbolizes the thousands in the airport community who work together every day to provide our passengers and visitors with a positively surprising and memorable Changi experience."
