Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority allocates $1.75M for building Metrolink Train Station
There are expectations that there will be a new Metrolink train station soon on the northern part of Bob Hope Airport, bringing connections amid the airstrip and the Antelope Valley.
The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority has pledged an amount of $1.75 million this week for the construction of the station at Hollywood Way and San Fernando Road. The station will be a momentous part to the Antelope Valley line of Metrolink, according to Don Sepulveda, executive officer for regional rail for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the entity managing the new significant project. He added, We believe that this is a very important station for not just the airport but also the Metrolink system, and it really enhances the regional connectivity that I know the airport is interested in. MTA, together with other backings, will offer the residual project cost, which is likely to cost amid $3 million and $4 million, stated the airport officials. The airport's executive director-- Dan Feger has stated that he wants to complete the construction of the new station without delay. He added, Don't tie it up with a lot of studies and delays and whatnot. According to him, the project is long overdue. Move the project forward in an expeditious fashion. The airport is keen to offer superior connections with public transportation system. We believe that it's a need that should have been fulfilled years ago. Metrolink should have had a station here when it opened in 1992, but it didn't, he stated. The current right of entrance can put up a new station, stated Feger. He has opined that the track does not require another organization. Metrolink currently has a station on the southern side of the airport alongside West Empire Drive, which runs to Union Station. According to Feger, the new station is expected to cut traffic in the region of the airport, predominantly on Hollywood Way. This is a strong message to the transportation world that we mean business, he noted. We want to put our money where out mouth is. We want to do things that reduce the impact of traffic in this city and the region and provide other alternatives for transportation that this region deserves.
