Sichuan Airlines Goes Ahead With International Expansion
Chengdu-based Sichuan Airlines said it is entering into an aggressive expansion growth plan with the launch of its first international service between Chengdu and Vancouver via Shen Yang in late June.
In preparation for its international operations, the airline has signed a long-term full content deal with Sabre Travel Network, making all its fares and inventory available to all Sabre Connected travel agents worldwide through the Sabre Global Distribution System. Sichuan Airlines will begin its first international flight to Vancouver in late June. This will be followed by services to Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Melbourne. This partnership with Sichuan Airlines is meant to cement Sabre's foothold in the China market, having recently also announced a broad relationship between China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines and Sabre Holdings in which the airlines named Sabre Travel Network as its preferred GDS. Sabre Travel Network provides technology solutions to the global travel industry. It operates the world's largest travel marketplace, connecting travel buyers and sellers through the Sabre global distribution system. Its innovative software connects more than 350,000 travel professionals to more than 400 airlines, 93,000 hotels, 25 car rental brands, 50 rail providers, 13 cruise lines and other global travel suppliers.
