Saudi aviation authority to invest USD 53.3bn in air transport industry
Saudi Arabia's general authority for civil aviation (GACA) plans to invest SAR 200bn (USD 53.3bn) in the air transport industry in the next five years to meet rising air traffic driven by growing population and economy, Arab News reported. GACA has already started expanding the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and the King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh. The SAR 27bn new Jeddah airport is expected to be operational in 2014 with an increased capacity of servicing 30mn passengers a year from the current 17mn.
