New terminal in Rabat-Sale airport to handle 15mn passengers a year.
A new airport terminal with a capacity of handling 1.5mn passengers annually was inaugurated in Rabat, L'Economiste reported. Launched in 2008, the MAD 280mn (USD 33mn) project envisaged a complete transformation of Terminal 1 in the Rabat-Sale international airport. The new terminal now has advanced technological equipment commensurate with the international standards for safety and security, in addition to a public hall, a lounge, a space for the baggage, and cafeterias. Upon the completion of the expansion works, the size of the terminal has increased 4-fold to 16,000 square meters enabling the airport to handle 1.5mn passengers per year from a previous 400,000. The number of passengers at the Rabat-Sale airport increased by 3.58% y/y to 370,000 in 2011. The airlines operating from Rabat-Sale include the RAM, Air France, Jet4you and Iberia.
