Russian state body OKs building 3rd Domodedovo Airport runway

Russia's General Directorate of State Expertise has approved project documents on the construction of a third runway at Moscow Domodedovo Airport, the press office of the airport said in a statement Friday. The length of the runway, the construction of which is to comprise two stages, is expected to amount to 3,800 meters. The capacity of the runway is planned to amount to at least 45 aircraft movements per hour. Domodedovo Airport is one of three major airports servicing the Russian capital and the surrounding region. Passenger traffic through the airport rose 15.5% to 25.702 million people in 2011.
