Russia's aviation watchdog, the Federal Air Transport Agency, plans to ban the operations of air carrier Dagestan Airlines, the agency's Director Alexander Neradko told PRIME on December 18.

"The decision to ban (the activity) has been made," Neradko said, adding that the agency detected numerous violations in the company's activity, which caused an air crash in 2010, killing 2 people and injuring 83 people.

Neradko also said that the Makhachkala airport, which was united in the same structure as Dagestan Airlines, is expected to continue operations, adding that there was an important investor ready to develop the airport.

On December 16, Dagestan Airlines stopped selling tickets as the service had not extended its licence.
